Why it stands out
Midsummer House is Cambridge’s most formal culinary destination, but its setting is pastoral rather than grandiose: a Victorian villa between the River Cam and the grazing cattle of Midsummer Common. Daniel Clifford opened the restaurant in 1998 and has shaped its precise modern British cooking for more than two decades. The restaurant earned its first Michelin star in 2002 and its second in 2004. Current service is built around several set-menu formats, from a shorter lunch introduction to the full signature tasting experience.
